there is something about the retro photo that makes it seem like a modern take on retro-i.e. calvin klein or A&F does retro photoshoot… not sure it’s old. but it’s nice!
Hi Casey and thanks – as always – for your comment! I know the type of ‘modern-retro’ photo that you’re talking about and, yes, this pic does have that look to it. I just did a little bit of research on the photo (not bad considering it’s first thing in the morning on New Year’s Day!) and the guy on the right is a physique model by the name of Richard Bennett who rose to fame in the early 1960′s.
cool! i love those old ’50s and ’60s physique and ‘sun worship’ magazines… i have quite a few i bought in Times Square about 20 years ago before it became Disney North. appreciate your column as always! i like the group of bulgy guys in today’s first pic also!
