Hi & welcome to my first post on Straight Guy Photos!
If you’ve read my About My Blog page, you’ll realise that I’m going to be posting the occasional candid photo so I thought I’d start off the blog with a few pix which fall into that category!
————————–
“Very Blue” is an interesting photo (courtesy of ‘Anah’) which, by virtue of the expanse of sea and sky relative to the young man the photo, provokes an instant ‘click to enlarge’ urge so as to get a closer view of the subject. The amount of space around the subject in this uncropped image is, however, very successful in conveying the feeling that the scene is being ‘played out’ in relatively isolated surroundings – in which our subject is pleasingly less concerned about issues of modesty!

The next photo (thanks to ‘Common Guy’) again features blue shorts – this time set against a green (and less expansive) background. The presence of the dogs in the foreground and the subject’s smoking (together with his looking down) impart a genuine candid feeling to the image thus inviting us to unobtrusively cast our gaze at whatever elements of the photograph we find most interesting!

More blue shorts in this photo simply called “Guy” by freelance photographer Allen Rockwell. Whilst this photo would do credit to any commercial magazine page on which it appeared, it still retains all the unposed, sponaneous ‘naturalness’ which candid photography is all about. There are many appealing aspects to the subject of this image – to the point where the board shorts themselves are almost like an ‘added bonus’ rather than necessarily being the main point of interest!

I couldn’t resist one final blue shorts shot! “CommonVee” has entitled her photograph “Brockett eats wheat thins”.
In this image, a simple landscape (beachscape?) scene is dramatically transformed by the intrusion of two-thirds of our subject, “Brockett”.
Excluding Brockett’s ‘upper section’ also allows the photo’s ‘candidness’ to remain ambiguous and this gives a nice edge to a photo in which a significant part of the interest is the way in which the board shorts drape around our wheat-thin-eating friend!
